　　i think college is also a small society where i can improve myself .for example i should learn how to get along with other though i may dislike them ,or how to deal with things that i used regard as worthless and so on.

　　then i sincerely hope i can find my true friends so that we can struggle for our dreams together!

　　although every thing is unforeseeable, i believe my dream will come true as long as i stick to them and never give up!

　　Facing this audience on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest. 　　I’m grateful that I’ve been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.

　　Though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, I believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years.

　　In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.

　　The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself.

　　One day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, Could you please explain this to me? I want very much to do better this time. I started explaining, and finished in a hurry. Pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, I ran off quickly. Nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. And two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. No one ever knew about the little task I failed to fulfill, but I couldn’t forgive myself. I simply couldn’t forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, Why didn’t you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you? Why didn’t you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that I would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?

　　I was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the word responsibility and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.

　　Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that I have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.

　　As I grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, I began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. New buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.

Then one day, the irate tortoise answered back: "Who do you think you are? There's no denying you're swift, but even you can be beaten!" The hare squealed with laughter.

　　"Beaten in a race? By whom? Not you, surely! I bet there's nobody in the world that can win against me, I'm so speedy. Now, why don't you try?"

　　Annoyed by such bragging, the tortoise accepted the challenge. A course was planned, and the next day at dawn they stood at the starting line. The hare yawned sleepily as the meek tortoise trudged slowly off. When the hare saw how painfully slow his rival was, he decided, half asleep on his feet, to have a quick nap. "Take your time!" he said. "I'll have forty winks and catch up with you in a minute."

　　The hare woke with a start from a fitful sleep and gazed round, looking for the tortoise. But the creature was only a short distance away, having barely covered a third of the course. Breathing a sigh of relief, the hare decided he might as well have breakfast too, and off he went to munch some cabbages he had noticed in a nearby field. But the heavy meal and the hot sun made his eyelids droop. With a careless glance at the tortoise, now halfway along the course, he decided to have another snooze before flashing past the winning post. And smiling at the thought of the look on the tortoise's face when it saw the hare speed by, he fell fast asleep and was soon snoring happily. The sun started to sink, below the horizon, and the tortoise, who had been plodding towards the winning post since morning, was scarcely a yard from the finish. At that very point, the hare woke with a jolt. He could see the tortoise a speck in the distance and away he dashed. He leapt and bounded at a great rate, his tongue lolling, and gasping for breath. Just a little more and he'd be first at the finish. But the hare's last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.

Unexpectedly, most of the interviewees make complaints about the soaring housing price. They hold firmly to belief that such state of affairs is irrational and abnormal. The higher housing prices are, the less people who can afford it. Hence, this may conduce to exceedingly severe living problems. With no lodgings to live in, people begin to do something immoral, and more crimes will come forth, then, social instability ensue. Out of this point, some people may blame the government for not being able to command macroscopic regulation such as not cracking down on illegal purchasing approaches. While others hold the view that some special groups should takeresponsibility for the soaring housing prices problem. As some wealthy people or powerful personages are in p

　　ursuit of being wealthier by owing more houses through proper or improper ways, the housing prices are forced to be raised. Constant complaints against soaring housing prices will continue unless that tendency drops off.

　　After stating this universal complaint against soaring housing prices, I would like to come up with my viewpoints. Personally, I deem that this problem is really a hot potato. It depends on the governmental control and personal morality. However, in order to stop the housing prices from going up, I stick to the idea that the central government should make some effective laws , levy more taxes on house property just as western countries do to restrict rich people to purchasing and selling their houses. With the mutual efforts made by people and the government, there is no denying that the complaint against soaring housing prices will disappear one day.

　　As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English,I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”， and I answered “no”， “So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!

　　But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.

　　When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”

　　But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot.

　　Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future.

How to catch up with the world? That is, study English well to gain the first hand data. Forcing study won’t stay in the heart, feeding knowledge into the brain won’t get a good result, and high mark isn’t our teaching goal. 　　怎样帮助孩子学好英语呢？家长和教师如何共同帮助孩子学习成长呢？老师自然是最直接的知识传授者，有着不可推卸的责任，但家庭教育至关重要，你重视了，你付出了，孩子们自然会学有所成，你松懈了，你不管了，孩子的学习自然搞不好，在此，我呼吁我们的家长多配合学校，多配合老师，靠我们共同的努力来帮助孩子学好英语，和孩子共同成长、共同进步。

　　我认为，英语学习并不难，难就在于没有一个好的家庭教育环境，没有养成好的学习习惯。我们要在以下几个方面加强对孩子的学习教育。

　　一. 要给孩子们营造宽松的学习环境。

　　首先是学校的学习环境。我们老师在英语教学过程中，尊重每个学生，保护他们的自尊心和积极性。创造各种合作学习的活动，推动学生互相学习，互相帮助，体验成就感，发展合作精神；关注学习有困难的或性格内向的学习，尽可能地为他们创造语言的机会；建立融洽、民主的师生交流渠道，经常和学生一起反思学习过程和学习效果，互相鼓励和帮助，做到教学相关；加强对学生学习策略的指导；引导学生在学习过程中，进行自我评价，并根据需要调整自身的学习目标和学习策略。孩子们在学的轻松，学习的主动性、自觉性不断提升，我们给学生营造了宽松的'学习环境。

　　第二是家庭的学习环境。每位家长一定要关注孩子们的学习，多鼓励，多给孩子们营造宽松的家庭学习环境，不能不管不顾，放任自流，不能无原则打骂孩子，要针对孩子们的学习表现，多和学校老师沟通，多和孩子们沟通，共同帮助孩子改正缺点，树立信心，培养孩子们学习兴趣。

　　二.要重视孩子们不错学习习惯的养成

　　1.让孩子多听、多想

　　首先是加强听力训练和说话训练，然后才是读写能力的培养。听说能力差，用英语进行交际的能力差，为此，家长一定要配合学校来要求孩子，要创造条件让孩子多听，多听纯正的录音，听几遍、听清楚了以后，跟着说，从小培养孩子的听觉，为将来打好基础。

　　2.让孩子多说、多练

　　家长要每天让孩子多读英语、多多练习说话，要鼓励孩子大声地朗读、对话、问答，大声说，不害羞，这样有利于清楚地表达自身，培养信心，能力，敢说、多练才会学好英语。

　　3.让孩子熟练背诵课文和单词背诵

　　这是一项基本功，可以积累一些日常用语，到用的时等候就可以脱口而出。但在背诵过程中要讲究方法，不可操之过急，要注意分散和集中相结合。我们一般是分段教课文，那就可以请学生分段背课文。等快教完的时候，再把课文串起来背，这样可以降低一点难度，让学生背得轻松些。但在检查过程中，我们发目前一些学生背得相当熟练，可问他课文中的某个词组或句子的意思时，他却一问三不知。因此，我们在背诵过程中要注意上下文的理解，在理解的基础上达到背诵的要求，课文中涉及到的相关词组和句型，要让学生熟记，并能用它们来造句、说话。在具体的实施过程中发现：有些学生根本不用心学，能偷懒则偷懒，很多家长比较负责会查问有没有教新课，要不要默写，但孩子不老实，欺骗家长。这时候，你应该及时跟老师联系，做好沟通，让孩子知道：欺骗不是办法，也会受到相应的惩罚。

　　单词亦是如此，分散记忆、根据读音记忆单词都是可取的方法。有时，我们回家布置抄写单词，其目的不在于抄，而在于提醒学生记忆这些单词。但在日常学习中，学生不重视这项作业，认为只是抄抄而已，不做也没什么关系，其实他连抄写都不做，根本别说是去背了，结果几次下来，他应付不过来，学习处于被动状态，从而影响了以后的学习，出现退步现象。因此，请大家在家里督促孩子保质保量地完成英语作业，该读的读、该说的说、该写的写、该记的记，及时巩固，养成不错的习惯。父母亲的不错榜样起着较大作用。孩子一般还没有明确的学习目的，这时，父母亲对学习的态度，特别是行为，会极大地影响孩子。你要让你的孩子知道，要善于学习，勤于学习，要多掌握知识，为了明天的成就，把握好今天的学习。

　　65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

　　In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon's mouth.

　　He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

　　When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one's error.

　　People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task. As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, first, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. Second, we can try to use less water and make sure that we do not pollute the water. Third, we should not throw rubbish in the parks. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. Fourth, we can live far from the noise.

　　一、英语的重要性

　　相信每个家长都有这样一个共识：随着社会的发展，英语的受重视程度越来越高，“学好数理化，英语不好也白搭”正是现代社会对英语的重要性的一个通俗描述。如果我们的孩子能从小开始学习英语，熟练地掌握并应用英语，无论是个人自信心还是将来发展，都是极其有利的。

　　二、孩子的特点以及相应的教学举措

　　孩子们的年龄都集中在6——8岁，共同特点是好玩，好动。注意力还不能持久稳定。但他们可爱、聪明、热情。正处于掌握语言的最佳时期。我作为他们的英语老师，我将尽职尽责，竭尽全力通过丰富多彩形式多样充满趣味性的教学活动

　　三、教材特点

　　本学期学校采用了新的'教材，是译林出版社的牛津小学英语，每学期上完一本。此册书共有10个单元，每个单元分三个部分，分别要求听，认，说。从难度上来说，此教材比去年学校采用的外研社版要简单很多，词汇量少，句型简单，这大大减轻了孩子们学习的压力，同时也减少了家长辅导的难度。教材遵循由浅入深，由易入难的规律，所选内容均是与学生平时日常生活有关，可以密接结合平时的生活经历，切实做到了理论与实践结合，让孩子在现实生活中也能有机会锻炼英语口语。

　　四、良好学习习惯的培养

　　重视孩子朗读作业的完成。英语学习的初级阶段，一般书写作业较少，大多是一些朗读的作业。朗读作业同样非常重要，完成时一定要让孩子大声的朗读给您听，哪怕您没时间，边做家务边听，也要让孩子读给您听，老师要求读几遍，就必须完成几遍，当然，这个几遍只是一般意义上的，()也就是老师感觉读这几遍孩子能记住，能记牢。如果您的孩子不能完全掌握，还可以多读几遍，以孩子能记准记牢为标准。读完后家长签字，要具体签上读了几遍，是否读熟。

　　五、树立家校通力合作，教育才能达到最佳效果的观念

　　要树立正确的教育观念。现代社会，在小学阶段对孩子影响最大的还是来自学校和家庭。同样的学校同样的老师，学生的发展却有极大的不同，有的学习优秀，能考上理想的重点中学，而有的却差强人意，甚至举步维艰，为什么呢？除了孩子个体的原因，家庭教育的不同是造成差异的主要原因。父母生下孩子，花了大量的时间精力养育他，您的态度、习惯决定了您孩子的态度和习惯。

　　六、注重鼓励评价，促进学生的和谐发展。

　　孩子刚进入小学的时候，年幼的他们也将面临许多挑战和困难。要多用表扬激励的方式。常言道，失败是成功之母，但对这个阶段的孩子来说，“成功”是成功之母：取得进步并得到表扬，才会对学习有兴趣、有信心，为以后的学习奠定良好的基础。要努力发现孩子的点滴进步，多鼓励孩子。对学习上出现一些困难的孩子，切记不要用伤孩子自尊的话语，这样的话语可能会毁了他的一生。一年级的知识对成年人来说您肯定觉得太简单了，但对孩子却不同，而且每个孩子的接受能力不同，要多给孩子一些消化吸收的时间，不要急于求成。

　　Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

　　Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

　　When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

　　Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"

　　Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

　　Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

　　"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

　　Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

　　"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

　　Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

　　Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"

　　"It was Time," Knowledge answered.

　　"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

　　Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."
